Indicator: Agriculture, forestry, and fishing, value added (annual % growth) - Ranking   2024

Description Agriculture, forestry, and fishing, value added (annual % growth) measures the annual percentage change in the real economic value generated by agriculture, forestry, and fishing activities. According to the World Bank, the indicator covers ISIC (Rev. 4) divisions 01–03, including crop cultivation, livestock production, timber harvesting, and the collection of other plant, animal, or forest products from farms or natural habitats. Value added is calculated as the total value of output minus the value of intermediate goods and services used in production. The indicator is expressed as the annual percentage change in a constant-price series, using 2015 as the base year and US dollars as the reference currency.
A cosa serve The indicator is used to monitor the economic performance of agriculture, forestry, and fishing over time, compare sectoral dynamics across countries, and evaluate the contribution of primary activities to overall economic development. It can support the analysis of structural transformation, food and resource security, rural economic activity, and the effects of environmental or climatic shocks on production. Because it measures changes in real value added, it is more appropriate for analysing actual sectoral growth than nominal-value indicators affected by inflation and price movements.
