Indicator: Imports of goods and services (constant 2015 US$) - Ranking   2024

Description Imports of goods and services (constant 2015 US$) measures the real value of goods and services acquired by residents of an economy from non-residents. Imports of goods include changes in the economic ownership of goods from non-residents to residents, irrespective of whether the goods physically cross national borders. Imports of services include services provided by non-residents to residents. The indicator is expressed in constant U.S. dollars, meaning that the series has been adjusted for changes in prices over time, using 2015 as the reference year. This allows changes in the indicator to reflect variations in the volume of imports rather than changes attributable solely to price movements.
A cosa serve The indicator is used to analyse real import dynamics and changes in international trade activity. It can help determine whether an increase or decrease in the monetary value of imports reflects changes in the quantity of goods and services traded rather than price effects. Combined with real exports, GDP, and other trade indicators, it can support the analysis of external trade performance, domestic economic activity, import dependence, and the contribution of net exports to economic growth.
